Raining from the skies

It’s raining in Boston like a motherfucker right now. I walked out of my dwelling and into the city, and I was met with a torrent of nature’s purest expression. The rain gave me my second shower of the day but I was surprisingly not annoyed.

No, I was actually pleased. The rain was like a cleanser from the sky; a washing away of all the thoughts and worries of the coming day. The rain elevated me. I did not even bother wearing a hoody or bringing an umbrella. I just allowed the water to hit my hair and fall down my face. And it felt good.

So… am I crazy? Rain is good or bad? The plants need rain but humans are always annoyed by it. Rain, rain go away?

Here’s a video to supplement your rain-thought.

And a link to a cool 30 minute loop of rain!

Empathic Civilization: Global Shift in Consciousness?

I came across this video after a friend of mine had uploaded it to my Facebook. Now, I've been a fan of RSA animations before, but this one was really amazing.

Now, the premise of the video, is that we as human beings have what is called an empathic distress; we feel for other people because we are all aware that we will die at one point. The video claims we can eventually extend our empathy towards the entire human race and the planet Earth as well.

I love the idea. I am not sure how close we are to getting towards it, but I certainly appreciate the sentiment. There is a global shift in consciousness going on right now. People are connected to each other in an ever globalizing world. My thoughts are instantly available on the Internet, along with millions of other thoughts.

The internet represents the physical manifestation of what many in the psychedelic drug world refer to as "oneness". The idea is that we are all connected, made of the same thing; one. I don't know how feasible that is in reality, but I do know that with the Internet, we are far more connected than ever before. This means that I can see through the eyes of many people in many different situations than myself. I am able to vicariously experience another person's life. This vicarious experience creates empathy in me.

Does it do the same for you?

First Blood

First blood, first post, first words; this is the beginning of The Blank Canvas.

This blog is simple. It's all about filling in a blank canvas. Life is too chaotic and there's too many strings pulling people in way too many directions. Sometimes, the best cure for that is to let your creativity take you somewhere far away from wherever you are.

On here you'll find everything and anything. The stimuli are at the mercy of my Internet ADD; I hope they can spark some sort of discussion.

Expect lots of music, lots of political banter, and of course, tons of controversial and entertaining posts. I'm only 50% of this...the rest is up to you.
